During this process, you will be able to choose your preferred activation date and the plan that you require.
Installation:
Once your eSIM has been activated for the selected date, you will receive an email with the subject “Your Japan eSIM is Now Active!” to notify you that the eSIM is ready for installation.
This email will contain the Japanese phone number you have been assigned, additional instructions regarding the installation / configuration process for your device and a link to a QR Code or Activation Code that will allow you to complete the installation.
The email will also specify the EID number of the device the eSIM is linked to. The EID is the unique 32-digit identifier for your device (you would have been asked to enter this during the activation process) and so please ensure that you install the eSIM on the correct device.
QR Code / Activation Code:
The eSIM installation process can vary depending on your device and so please refer to the guides below –
iPhone Handsets:

Once the eSIM has been activated, you may receive a push notification on your device (stating “Finish Cellular Setup – An eSIM from Docomo is ready to be set up on this iPhone”). If you have already followed this prompt and the eSIM already appears to be installed on your device, you will not be required to manually install the eSIM.
If the eSIM has not yet been installed however, installation can be completed using the QR code you were provided or you can manually install the eSIM.
QR code Installation (iOS 17 and above)
- Save the QR code as an image in the Photos app. To save the QR code as a photo, open the image or long press it and then tap Save Image or Save to Photos. Alternatively, you can take a screenshot of the QR code and trim it.
- You should then be able to start the installation process by going to:
Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Open Photos - Once you’ve selected the QR code image, it will be scanned immediately and you can then follow the prompts to complete the installation.
QR code Installation (iOS 16 and below)
- To scan the QR code from the camera app, you would firstly need to make the QR code accessible. You could simply print out the QR code or you can open the QR code on another device.
- You can then scan the QR code by opening the camera app (and scanning the code and following the installation prompts) or you can go to:
Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code > Scan the code
Manual Installation (if QR option isn’t possible)
- Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile Data > Add eSIM
- Tap Use QR Code and select the Enter Details Manually option
- Enter the following “SM-DP+ Address”:
sm-v4-004-a-gtm.pr.go-esim.com - Leave the “Activation Code” field blank
- Tap Next
Android Handsets:

You can install the eSIM on your Android device by scanning the QR code or you can install it manually by entering the required settings.
QR Code Installation
- To scan the QR code from your device, you would firstly need to make the QR code accessible. You could simply print out the QR code or you can open the QR code on another device.
- On most Samsung handsets, you can install an eSIM by going to:
Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Add Mobile Plan > Add using QR code / Scan Carrier Code
On most Google handsets, you can install an eSIM by going to:
Settings > Network & Internet > Plus Symbol (+) > Download a new eSIM - You can then follow the prompts to complete the installation. If the instructions above are incorrect for your device however, you may need to refer to the user manual for your specific handset.
Manual Installation (if QR option isn’t possible)
- For Samsung handsets, go to:
Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Add mobile plan > Add using QR code / Scan Carrier Code
You can then select the Enter the code instead option and Copy/Paste this code into the “Activation Code” box:

Once complete, tap the Connect button and select the Add and use it now option. - For Google handsets, go to:
Settings > Network & Internet > Plus Symbol (+) > Download a new eSIM > Need help? > Enter it manually
You can then Copy/Paste this code into the box:

Once complete, tap Continue and then follow the prompts. - If the instructions above are incorrect for your device however, you may need to refer to the user manual for your specific handset.
Data Settings:
Once the eSIM has been installed, your device must also be configured correctly for cellular data access.
