Step 1: Getting Started
Once you have received your Voice+Data SIM / eSIM Access Code, your Voice Lite SIM / eSIM Access Code or your WiFi Device……
You can submit an activation request directly from your Mobal online account (MyAccount): www.mobal.com/myaccount
*Login details will be sent to you via email shortly after placing your order or you can request a password reset link from the login screen
Once you have logged in to your account, simply visit the Services section and click on the Activate button found next to the relevant product.

Step 2: Enter Product Details
If you have purchased a Voice+Data SIM Card or a Voice Lite SIM Card, you will be asked to enter the SIM card serial number.
If you have purchased a Voice+Data eSIM, you will be asked for your eSIM Access Code and EID but if you have purchased a Voice Lite eSIM, you will only be asked for the eSIM Access Code.
If you have purchased a WiFi Device, you will only be required to enter the IMEI number of the device.
Physical SIMs:

The SIM serial number will be written directly on the SIM card and also on the paperwork you received with the SIM card.
eSIMs:

You will receive the “eSIM Access Code” in the mail or from your chosen collection point (it’s an 8-character code containing both letters and numbers).
The “EID” is a unique 32-digit number that identifies the eSIM chip on the device you wish to use. The EID will only be required if you have purchased a Voice+Data eSIM.
On most handsets, you can locate the EID by dialing: *#06#
Alternatively, you may be able to locate the EID by going to Settings > General > About > EID (on most iPhone handsets) or by going to Settings > About Phone > Status Information > EID (on most Android handsets).
*For our eSIM products, your handset must be an actual eSIM compatible device with built-in eSIM functionality. Our eSIMs are not compatible with products such as “esim.me” that allow you to install eSIMs on devices that were not originally eSIM compatible.
WiFi Devices:

The “IMEI” can be found on the label on the back of the WiFi device.
Step 3: Transferring a Phone Number?
If you already have a Japanese phone number from another service provider and you would like to transfer it to a Mobal SIM / eSIM, please also select the “Yes, I want to keep my existing phone number” option.
*You can ignore this step if you have purchased a WiFi Device or a Voice Lite SIM / eSIM as this option will not be shown.
You can then enter your current Japanese phone number, the MNP reservation code / MNP code expiry date (which you will be required to retrieve from your current service provider), your name and your date of birth.
If you do not have a phone number that you wish to transfer however, simply select the “No, I want to receive a new phone number” option instead.
*It will only be possible to transfer a phone number if you have purchased a Voice+Data SIM / eSIM and you intend to select a long term plan. If you have purchased a Voice Lite SIM / eSIM however, it will not be possible to transfer a phone number (the SIM / eSIM will just be assigned a new phone once it has been activated and the number will be lost when your service is terminated).
Step 4: Choose an Activation Date / Plan
You can then follow the prompts to choose your required activation date and plan.

Pay upfront for the selected 30, 60 or 90 day plan during the activation process.
Your plan will then auto-disconnect at the end of the short term plan you have selected and so you will not incur any additional plan fees (unless you manually extend the plan or switch to a long term plan).

Usage Fees (SIMs / eSIMs)

Usage reports are usually passed on to us with a delay (of approximately 1-2 months) and so you may find that usage fees are processed at a later date.
Step 6: Confirmation
After you have completed steps 1-5, you can then submit your activation request for processing.
Once your Mobal plan has been activated for the requested date, you will receive a confirmation email.
If you have activated a Voice capable SIM/eSIM, the confirmation email will also contain the Mobal phone number that you have been assigned.
* A phone number will only be assigned to your SIM/eSIM at the point of activation (and so we are unable to provide the phone number in advance)
