EID Information:
An “EID” (or “Embedded Identity Document”) is a unique, 32 digit number that identifies an eSIM compatible device. It’s similar to an IMEI number for a physical SIM card.
If you intend to use one of our eSIM products, you must ensure that your device is eSIM compatible by checking for an EID number. You will also require your device’s EID number to complete the activation process if you have purchased a ‘Voice+Data eSIM’ product.
How to find the EID:
On the vast majority of handsets, you can locate the EID by dialing: *#06#
If you are unable to locate the EID using this method, you should still be able to find it within the settings menu on your device.
On most iPhone handsets, you can find it by going to: Settings > About > EID
On most Android handsets, you can find it by going to: Settings > About/General > Information/Status Information > EID
Locating the EID number within the settings menu should also allow you to Copy / Paste the EID (which may be helpful if you require it when activating a ‘Voice+Data eSIM’).
If you are still unable to find the EID using either method, you may need to refer to the user guide for your specific device or you may need to contact the manufacturer (or the original retailer / service provider you purchased the device from) to ensure it’s eSIM compatible.
Transferring the eSIM:
Once you have purchased a Mobal Data-Only eSIM and installed it on a device, it’s important to note that it will not be possible to transfer the eSIM to another device.
This is a pre-paid service which cannot be altered in any way and so if you are switching to a new device (and still wish to use our Data-Only eSIM service), the only solution would be to purchase another eSIM and install it on the new device.
If you have purchased a Mobal Voice+Data eSIM however, we can confirm that the eSIM can be transferred to another device.
